Welcome to The Pilates Room
Established in 2018, The Pilates Room is a well equipped reformer studio located in the beautifully refurbished 'Old Sewing Factory' in Pukekohe township. The relaxed and welcoming environment provides the perfect space for your Pilates practice.

By integrating body, breath, movement and awareness, we strive to promote an understanding of all these aspects in your personal health and well-being.
Whether you are looking to build strength, flexibility, rehabilitate from an injury, increase your movement or find time for yourself, we want to give you the opportunity to connect with your body through Pilates.

Our Classes
BEGINNER
New to Pilates?
Get the basics right with our beginner classes. We will take you through the basic principles of Pilates (breath & body alignment), how the reformers work and the base exercise movements alongside other new starters.
We recommend at least four beginner sessions to get you going.

BARRE-FORMER
Sculpt lean and toned muscles with this energising and dynamic group class designed to challenge and change your body. Barre-former effectively blends Barre and Reformer for fun mix of both cardio and strength-training.
You will feel the burn.

REFORMER LITE
Focusing on functional movement, this slower paced class uses mid range spring tensions and a range of modifications.
Ideal for those rehabilitating from injuries or wanting to take it a bit slower.
Note beginner or private sessions are a perquisite for those new to Reformer Pilates.

ATHLETIC REFORMER
A faster paced and more challenging class for clients already confident and competent on the reformer.
Athletic Reformer is designed to challenge core strength and stability with faster transitions, higher reps and more demanding movements.
Not suitable for injuries or beginners.

REFORMER
Using the resistance of the Reformer, each class engages the entire body focusing on muscle tone, endurance, balance and functional strength. Suitable for most levels, exercises are layered for more challenge as desired.
Note beginner or private sessions are a perquisite for those new to Reformer Pilates.

ACTIVE AGING
Catering to our more mature clients who may need to modify exercises and equipment, this is a slower paced class.
We work on increasing mobility, stability and overall strength. With a focus on functional movements, balance and strength, the goal is to improve day-to-day movements.

Pricing
We offer a range of passes designed to suit you & your attendance.
Passes are valid from the date of the first class & strictly valid for time period only.
Our cancellation / movement policy applies to all class bookings.

Class cancellations or movements can be made up to 12 hours before the class start time without penalty.

Frequently Asked Questions
NEW TO REFORMER PILATES?
Beginner classes are the starting point if you haven't done Reformer Pilates before.
We recommend doing 3-4 beginner classes before joining our regular classes.

NEW TO STUDIO BUT NOT REFORMER PILATES?
You are welcome to join our regular classes, we love welcoming new clients.
INJURIES OR HEALTH CONCERNS?
Ensure you have spoken to your lead health care provider first before joining classes.
Let us know if any injuries or concerns that may require modifications.

UNSURE IF CLASSES ARE SUITABLE?

it may be best to start with a private session.

MINIMUM AGE?
The minimum age for training with us is 16 year old. People under the age of 16 are required to provide a certificate from a parent or legal guardian confirming approval to train with The Pilates Room.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU DO PILATES?
The more time you put in the more results you will see but we recognize that everyone is different,
so at a minimum we recommend attending at least once a week.
In the famous words of Joseph Pilates “You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions.”

BOOKING CLASSES?
Our online booking systems offers you the flexibility to self manage all your class bookings.
Classes can be booked up to 15 minutes before they start.
​
CLASS WAITLIST?
You can waitlist for a fully booked class and we will email you to let you know if a spot becomes available.
From there you can book the class if it still suits but not it is first in first served.
​
STUDIO ENTRY?
We have two entrances to the studio. Weekdays 8am-5pm you can entry through the front door.
Early morning, evening and weekend entry is via the rear entrance down the driveway.

PRIVATE SESSIONS?
Our private sessions times are based around our class schedule, available sessions are typically weekdays 8am - 4pm.

TIMINGS?
All our sessions are 50 minutes, please arrive at least 5 minutes before the session starts.
You can book classes up to 15 minutes before the class starts.

CLASS PASSES?
You will need to purchase a class pass before booking classes.
We have a range of options available to suit your needs, passes are valid from the date of the first class attended for the period stipulated.

LATE CANCELLATIONS?
You can cancel your classes less than 12 hours prior, however you will still incur the class cost.
Late cancels just help us to manage attendance and each month we will to a draw to gift back one late cancellation their class pass to say thank you.

WHAT TO WEAR?
Comfortable clothes that you can move and work out in, nothing too loose and long hair preferably tied up to avoid it getting caught. Please note you will have your legs in the air so if you are going for shorts then a pair of bike pants underneath can be good option.
Clean socks are compulsory in our studio with grip socks preferred but not essential.
We stock a range of Move Active grip socks for purchase at $20 a pair if you forget your socks.

PARKING?
Street parking is easiest and there are a few carparks close by. It can be more harder to find a park right out the front during the day so please allow time for parking.
We have one client park at the back of the building (#3), please ensure you park in #3 spot as otherwise you may be asked to move.

PREGNANT?
Unfortunately we do not offer classes suitable for pregnancy, your body is undergoing so many changes as you grow that new life so you need to take extra care. we recommend you find a class designed for especially pregnancy.
